Peter Peters

Having spent 18 years as a member of the Executive Committee and Supervisory Board, Peter Peters, born in 1962, is the record holder among all previous members of these DFL governing bodies. In 2004, he was voted onto the then Executive Board of the Ligaverband for the first time and went on to serve as 1st Vice President from 2007. He did not resign from his duties at the DFL until 2022, when he did so as part of his application to the Bundestag of the German Football Association (DFB) for the office of President. Following the structural reform of 2019, Peters most recently held the roles of 1st Deputy Speaker of the DFL e.V. Executive Committee and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DFL GmbH.

Peters, who comes from Ochtendung in the part of the Eifel region situated within Rhineland-Palatinate, completed a degree in Business Administration in Dortmund but initially worked as a sports journalist for publications including the daily newspaper Westfälische Rundschau. His first job in professional football saw him take on the role of Deputy Managing Director at 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1991. In 1993, Peters initially became Managing Director at FC Schalke 04. From 1994 until mid-2020, he worked there as a member of the Managing Board.

During the 2022 General Assembly in Dortmund, where he has lived for many years, Peter Peters was elected as an Honorary Member of the DFL.
