DFL releases exact schedule for Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches until end of 2018-19 season

19 March 2019 – Now that the draw for the quarter final matches of the European club competitions has taken place and the match dates have been set, the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga has announced the exact schedules for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matchdays from Matchday 29 until the end of the season.

Due to the statutory public holiday on Good Friday (19 April 2019), the Bundesliga match regularly scheduled for Friday – in this case, the match on Matchday 30 between FC Schalke 04 and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – will take place on Saturday, 20 April 2019 (8:30 p.m. CET), as an exception. As fixtures cannot be scheduled for Good Friday, on Matchday 30, five Bundesliga 2 matches will take place on Sunday (1:30 p.m. CET) as an exception.

The last of the total of five Bundesliga games of the current season on a Monday will take place on Matchday 30 between VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt on Easter Monday (22 April 2019) after Eintracht Frankfurt play their return fixture against SL Benfica in the quarter final of the UEFA Europa League the previous Thursday evening.

All the matches of Matchday 33 and 34 of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will take place simultaneously on 11 and 18 May 2019 and 12 and 19 May 2019 respectively. However, if Eintracht Frankfurt play in the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday, 9 May, the DFL reserves the right to reschedule the Matchday 33 fixture between Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FSV Mainz 05 for Sunday, 12 May 2019.

The Bundesliga 2 game between MSV Duisburg and 1. FC Köln has been rescheduled and will take place on Wednesday, 10 April, at 6:30 p.m. (CET). The rescheduling of the match from the Matchday 26 was necessary after the pitch inspection last Saturday concluded that the pitch in the schauinsland-reisen-arena in Duisburg was unplayable.

The relegation play-offs will take place at the end of May to conclude the 2018-19 season. The first leg between the team finishing 16th in the Bundesliga and the team finishing 3rd in Bundesliga 2 will take place on Thursday, 23 May 2019. The return fixture will be on Monday, 27 May 2019. The first leg between the team finishing 16th in Bundesliga 2 and the team finishing 3rd in the 3. Liga will take place on Friday, 24 May 2019 with the return fixture on Tuesday, 28 May 2019. The previous Wednesday (22 May 2019) and the following Wednesday (29 May 2019) are alternative dates for the relegation matches in case a club plays in both the relegation and the DFB-Cup final (Saturday, 25 May 2019).

Furthermore the date for the 2019 Supercup has also been set: The match between the Bundesliga champion and the winner of the DFB Cup will take place on Saturday, 3 August.
