23 August 2024 – Bundesliga International has agreed a deal with leading Indonesian media conglomerate MNC to broadcast the Bundesliga from the start of the 2024-25 season.

As part of the agreement, Bundesliga International will leverage MNC’s network of channels to broadcast the German top-flight exclusively across subscription, Free-To-Air (FTA) and Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms. All nine Bundesliga matches will be broadcast each matchday, via the likes of KVision, Indonesia’s largest prepaid Pay-TV channel, MNC Vision, a direct-to-home subscription satellite television service, and Vision+, the largest SVOD OTT platform in Indonesia. Furthermore, up to four FTA matches will be broadcast, including on RCTI, one of Indonesia’s most watched free-to-air channels.

The multi-platform strategy ensures that the Bundesliga is Europe’s most accessible football league to watch in Indonesia, with varied broadcast options to suit every demographic.

In MNC, we have a partner that shares our vision, and we are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with them to deliver all the goals, excitement and drama of the Bundesliga to fans each week.

Alongside the rights to show the Bundesliga and the relegation play-off at the end of the season, MNC channels will have full access to the Bundesliga’s industry-leading International Product Portfolio, which provides more than 60,000 minutes of shoulder programming each season, including localised long and short form video content, and the Social Media Matchday Feed, that provides broadcasters with a library of content to use in the build up to game-day, from bus arrivals to pitch side warm up shots.

In addition to the televised product, both sides are committed to promoting the Bundesliga to fans throughout Indonesia with a joint marketing strategy that includes fan watch parties, out of home campaigns and money-can’t-buy prizes, delivering the best of German football in a truly localised approach.

Bundesliga International Chief Marketing Officer, Peer Naubert, said: “Indonesian football fans are among the most passionate in the world – the commitment to watching their favourite German clubs is to be admired and respected, and our goal is to not just to produce a world-class onscreen product, but to bring the Bundesliga closer to these fans.

“In MNC, we have a partner that shares our vision, and we are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with them to deliver all the goals, excitement and drama of the Bundesliga to fans each week.”

Executive Chairman of MNC Group, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, said, “We are thrilled to announce our broadcasting partnership with the Bundesliga, bringing one of Europe’s most exciting soccer leagues directly to Indonesian fans. This deal marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering world-class sports content and enhancing the viewing experience for our audience. The Bundesliga’s teams have captivated soccer enthusiasts globally, and we are proud to make it accessible to millions of passionate fans here in Indonesia. We look forward to a successful collaboration and to providing unparalleled access to top-tier soccer entertainment.”

The DFL remains active in Indonesian football at all levels, having signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) in June 2023. In September of the same year, the Indonesia U17 national team came to Germany as part of a five week-long “Bundesliga Training Camp”, in preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
