The view from above: The Aerial Camera System

*Video in German, English subtitles available under “settings”.

29 September 2020 – The camera pursues the players and follows the ball all the way into the goal: unique perspectives such as these are possible thanks to the Aerial Camera System (ACS).  Suspended by four wire cables that are attached to the roof of the stadium, this “flying” camera delivers footage that can be used in multiple ways. In conjunction with Augmented Reality technology, it can render various graphical elements, such as team line-ups or statistics, as if they were visible from the stadium rather than just on viewers’ TV screens.

Learn in the video above how the aerial camera system works, how it is controlled, and how DFL uses it.
