DFL Foundation

The DFL Foundation was initiated by DFL e.V. and DFL GmbH in 2008 with the aim of ensuring that professional football engages even more strongly with the social responsibility it bears. To achieve this, the DFL Foundation campaigns in conjunction with the 36 professional clubs. It supplements and connects their mostly regional activity with the aim of initiating Germany-wide programmes and support them in the long term.

Under the motto of “Creating opportunities”, the DFL Foundation promotes the integration and participation of children and young people and helps them to grow up healthy and active. It also supports talented athletes from more than 50 different Olympic and Paralympic disciplines as well as deaf sports, helping to make German elite sport competitive at the highest international level.

The DFL Foundation primarily focuses on developing its long-term, Germany-wide flagship projects. It also supports third-party initiatives on a targeted basis.

In addition to individual support, the DFL Foundation is committed to social cohesion. With campaigns that achieve wide coverage and league-wide days of action, it harnesses the strength of professional football and its role models to draw attention to important issues. In doing so, it is assisted by a strong network of partners and curators as well as its celebrity ambassadors Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern München) and Markus Rehm (athlete and Paralympic gold medallist).
