8 March 2022 – PlayStation becomes official partner of the bevestor Virtual Bundesliga (VBL). Under this collaboration, two Community Cups are being staged in the current season. In each Community Cup, participants can play for a ticket for the Playoffs of the VBL Open by bevestor. Otherwise, qualification for the Playoffs is via the VBL Open mode integrated in FIFA 22. Anyone interested is able to take part in this mode, and the number of people signing up has consistently been in six figures in recent years.

In addition, the VBL now has a further media partner: SPORT1 will broadcast the ties that determine the German eFootball Club Championship and the German Champion among the individual players.

  • In the last weekend in March, the eight remaining teams will play for the title of German eFootball Champion and a prize pool totalling €65,000. The final of the VBL Club Championship by bevestor will be shown live on Saturday 26 March from 3:30 p.m. (CET) on SPORT1 and eSPORTS1, and live on Sunday 27 March from 11:30 a.m. (CEST) on eSPORTS1 and from 5:00 p.m. (CEST) on SPORT1 on free TV.
  • At the beginning of June, the individual players will vie for the German eFootball Championship in the VBL Grand Final by bevestor. SPORT1 and eSPORTS1 will also be showing live coverage on Saturday 4 June and Sunday 5 June.

The current VBL season has started in November 2021. The VBL Open covers five qualifying rounds through to the end of March 2022. The VBL Club Championship started with 26 teams from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 – eight clubs will contest the playoffs on 8 and 9 March before the German eFootball Club Champion is finally crowned in the last weekend of March. At the beginning of June, the 32 best individual players from the two parts of the competition will then compete against each other for the title of German eFootball Champion.
