Hans-Joachim Watzke is League President of the DFL e.V. He also serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH and 1st Vice President of the German Football Association (DFB).

Born in Marsberg (North Rhine-Westphalia) in 1959, Hans-Joachim Watzke was appointed Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA at the height of Borussia Dortmund’s financial crisis in February 2005. He was Chairman of the Management Board from 1 January 2006 until 23 November 2025. Since 23 November, he has been President of Borussia Dortmund. The Business Studies graduate is also the sole shareholder of “Watex-Schutz-Bekleidungs-GmbH”.
