18 January 2023 – As a leader in sports innovation, the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga is exploring options for the pioneering use of Bundesliga content in an exciting new test case. In cooperation with BMW, the DFL is the first professional football league worldwide to test content optimised for the screens of in-car entertainment systems. The testing will take place across a number of markets, in selected new vehicle models from the manufacturer.
The test will focus on on-demand content, such as highlights and match data from the DFL’s international product portfolio, as well as live match action individually tailored for cars. The pilot project will examine which content is suitable – both when driving and stationary – with the safety of all passengers remaining the highest priority.
The testing will start on Matchday 16 (20–22 January 2023) of the current Bundesliga season, initially in Germany. Other countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia will follow shortly.
