11 January 2022 – The Executive Committee of the DFL today discussed the regulations on the cancellation of matches in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 as set out in the guidelines for the DFL rules of play. In connection with this, the committee has charged the “Football Commission” – made up of representatives of ten clubs – with continuing the ongoing review of the regulation last updated on 14 May 2020, particularly with regard to the definition and handling of long-term injuries, and putting forward suggestions for potential adjustments to the regulations for the forthcoming 2022–23 season. To ensure the integrity of the competition, there are currently no plans for any mid-season changes to the regulations this year.

The six DFL commissions “Club Media”, “Finance”, “Football”, “Internationalisation”, “Academies” and “Marketing & Sponsoring” are also advising the Executive Committee of the DFL on strategically relevant matters.
