DFL General Assembly 2025: Appointment of members of Executive Committee, Supervisory Board and Licensing Committee for the next term

3 September 2025 – At the General Assembly of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga e.V. in Berlin today, the 36 clubs of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 decided on the members of the DFL Executive Committee for the next four years until 2029.

Hans-Joachim Watzke (Borussia Dortmund) was re-elected as Speaker of the DFL e.V. Executive Committee and thus as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DFL GmbH, Oliver Leki (Sport-Club Freiburg) as First Deputy Speaker of the Executive Committee and thus Deputy Chairman of the DFL Supervisory Board, and Oke Göttlich (FC St. Pauli) as Second Deputy Speaker of the Executive Committee. The other members of the nine-strong DFL Executive Committee are Jan-Christian Dreesen (FC Bayern München) and Axel Hellmann (Eintracht Frankfurt), who were elected by the Bundesliga Sub-Assembly, Steffen Schneekloth (Holstein Kiel) and Holger Schwiewagner (SpVgg Greuther Fürth), who were elected by the Bundesliga 2 Sub-Assembly, as well as the Chief Executive Officers of DFL GmbH Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel.

In addition to Watzke and Leki, the other members of the DFL Supervisory Board, who number six in total, were also appointed for four years at the General Assembly. The other members are Ralf Huschen (Hertha BSC) and Dr. Eric Huwer (Hamburger SV), who were appointed by the General Assembly, while Fernando Carro de Prada (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) was appointed by the Bundesliga Sub-Assembly and Anne Baumann (SV Darmstadt 98) was appointed by the Bundesliga 2 Sub-Assembly.

Jan-Christian Dreesen was confirmed as Chairman of the Licensing Committee of the DFL e.V., who has the final say within the association on licensing decisions. Thomas Treß (Borussia Dortmund) was elected as the Deputy Chairman. The other members of the Licensing Committee are Gerrit Floruß (1. FC Heidenheim 1846) and Julien Zamberk (Eintracht Frankfurt) who were elected by the Bundesliga Sub-Assembly, as well as Arnd Hovemann (Fortuna Düsseldorf) and Dirk Weissert (SpVgg Greuther Fürth), who were elected by the Bundesliga 2 Sub-Assembly.

All candidates were elected unanimously or without any dissenting votes.

Peter Müller was also unanimously appointed as chairman of the arbitration tribunal of the professional leagues. The 69-year-old was previously Prime Minister of Saarland (1999–2011) and then a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe until 2023. He replaces Prof. Dr. Udo Steiner, who held the office since 2008 and retired due to age.
