Calendar for the 2026-27 season: Bundesliga to start on 28 August 2026 – Bundesliga 2 to kick off on 7 August 2026
6 November 2025 – The calendar for the 2026-27 season has been set. Compared to the previous year, the start of the leagues will be delayed by one week because of the FIFA World Cup 2026. As a result, the opening match of the Bundesliga is scheduled for 28 August 2026, while Bundesliga 2 will begin three weeks earlier on 7 August 2026. These and other dates are outlined in the schedule adopted by the respective Executive Committees of the German Football Association (DFB) and DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga.
Both leagues will pause for winter after Matchday 14 in the Bundesliga and Matchday 16 in the Bundesliga 2, respectively (18-20 December 2026). Bundesliga matches will resume on 8 January 2027, while Bundesliga 2 will restart one week later on 15 January 2027.
The Franz Beckenbauer Supercup between the German champion and the DFB-Pokal winners will take place on Saturday, 22 August 2026. On the same weekend, the DFB-Pokal will begin with the first round (21–24 August 2026). DFB-Pokal matches involving the two participants of the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup are scheduled on 1 and 2 September 2026. The DFB-Pokal final will be held on Saturday, 29 May 2027, at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
1 May 2027 (Labour Day) falls on a Saturday. In accordance with the agreement with the Conference of Germany’s Interior Ministers, there will be no league matches on that weekend. Instead, there will be a midweek round of fixtures for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 on 2-4 March 2027.
