17 July 2025 – Spectator attendance in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 remains at record levels. The number of tickets sold by the 36 professional clubs in Germany’s top two tiers reached a new high of almost 21 million (20,983,964) in total in the 2024-25 season. With an average of 34,288 tickets sold per game, German professional football also set the highest average attendance figure of all time.

The Bundesliga achieved total ticket sales of 11,653,239, with an average of 38,082 tickets sold per game in the German top division. The numbers are slightly lower than last year’s figures because promoted clubs, FC St. Pauli and Holstein Kiel, do not have the same stadium capacity as the previously relegated clubs, 1. FC Köln and SV Darmstadt 98, who went down at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Nevertheless, average attendance at Bundesliga stadiums last season was 95.9 percent, slightly above the previous year’s level of 95.2 percent. 15 of the 18 clubs achieved attendance of more than 90 percent. In the Bundesliga 2, total ticket sales were once again above the previous season’s level. 9,330,725 tickets were sold, corresponding to an average of 30,493 tickets per game – a record figure in the history of the league. Compared to the 2023-24 season, the figure rose by just under 6 percent.

“The new ticket record and the consistently high level of enthusiasm for the Bundesliga are impressive,” said DFL CEO Marc Lenz. “The attendance record in the Bundesliga 2 underscores that our clubs are firmly established regardless of their league affiliation. A variety of factors contribute to the record level, including the clubs’ strong roots in their communities, the high level of stadium security, and the moderate ticket prices compared to other countries.”

The average price of a ticket for a Bundesliga match, including VAT and public transport fees, was €28.78, only slightly higher than in the previous season (€28.30). In the Bundesliga 2, the average was €24.70 (2023-24: €22.93).

As has been the case since these figures were first collected and is also common practice in other leagues, the statistics are based on the number of tickets sold, including honorary and free tickets. More statistics relating to ticket sales can be found at https://report.dfl.de/2425/en.
