12th DFL New Year Reception – Full text of the speech by DFL CEO Christian Seifert

16 January 2019 – The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga hosted its New Year Reception for the 12th year in 2019. On Tuesday, DFL President Dr Reinhard Rauball and DFL CEO Christian Seifert welcomed around 350 guests in Frankfurt am Main. In addition to many officials from the 36 clubs that make up the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, the event was attended by representatives from the worlds of sport, media, politics and business. As in previous years, the DFL New Year Reception was held at the Thurn und Taxis Palais in central Frankfurt.

The official part included a welcome speech by Christian Seifert and a talk with Dr Reinhard Rauball and Julia Jäkel (CEO of Gruner + Jahr), Niko Kappel (shot-putter and 2016 Paralympic champion) and Sebastian Kehl (Head of the Licensed Player Division at Borussia Dortmund), who are future members of the DFL Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and sports journalist Marcel Reif, the new Chairman of the DFL Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
