The purpose of SportsInnovation is to highlight future trends which are of interest to sports institutions, the media and sport venues. The most unique and outstanding feature of the event are the “innovation games”: three football matches that will showcase the latest technologies of specific areas live: “Broadcast & Content”, “Sports Performance & Technology”, and “Fan Experience & Stadium”. The conference programme will gather first-rate national and international speakers and panellists on stage, representing sport leagues, clubs, and the business and science communities, among others.

The tech event enjoyed a successful premiere at the Düsseldorf Arena in May 2018. Originally planned to be held every two years, the subsequent SportsInnovation scheduled for 2020 had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the 2022 edition will be the second SportsInnovation. On 11-12 May, around 1,000 visitors and more than 50 exhibiting companies will participate in the technology event at the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in Düsseldorf.

Düsseldorf-based venue operator and events specialist D.LIVE is to organise the event via its “Sportstadt Düsseldorf” brand, and co-host it with DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and the sports business conference organiser “Spielmacher”.
