Growing Up Healthy And Active (DFL Foundation)

Alongside its commitment to the integration and participation of young people and the promotion of success in elite sport, the DFL Foundation campaigns for children and young people to grow up healthy and active (“Gesundes und aktives Aufwachsen”).

It uses targeted programmes to harness the strength and opportunities of professional football to help more children to exercise for at least an hour a day, eat healthily and develop a positive self-image.

Since 2019, for example, the DFL Foundation has offered the “step kickt!” project together with the Cleven Foundation and in close cooperation with professional clubs. Among other things, this project gives school pupils pedometers in order to encourage them to do more exercise and eat more healthily.

Another example is the “GESUND UND AKTIV” call for projects, which has allowed the DFL Foundation to expand its assistance for projects within this action area by providing support for a further 20 projects addressing the growing sedentary lifestyle among children and young people in Germany.
