The “Klassiker”: High-Quality Media Production and Global Interest

16 October 2025 – The German “Klassiker” is upon us. FC Bayern München will host Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena in Munich (Saturday, 6:30 p.m. CEST). This duel captivates football fans around the world and will once again be implemented with a first-class media concept.
Global Attention
The match will be broadcast in more than 200 FIFA member countries. In addition to national media partners, numerous international TV broadcasters will report live from the stadium, including ESPN USA, Sky Mexico, ESPN Latin America, beIN Sports (France), Canal+ (French-speaking Africa), Eleven Sports Poland, TV Arena (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia), and Telenet Belgium. A special feature: ESPN USA will use a so-called Pitch View Studio for the first time, offering a direct view of the pitch, with Bastian Schweinsteiger among the experts.
Innovative Media Production
Fans in Germany and around the world can look forward to state-of-the-art media production. A total of 30 cameras will be used, including the “Aerial Camera System” and a free-flying drone for impressive bird’s-eye views. Two wireless “Cinestyle” handheld cameras will capture the emotions of the fans and the stadium atmosphere, while two “Polecam Highspeed” cameras on four-meter-long jib arms behind the goals will provide special slow-motion shots and perspectives through the goal net.
Additionally, two cameras will focus on the coaching zones to capture the communication and emotions of Vincent Kompany and Niko Kovac. As in previous matches this season, a RefCam will also be used, offering insights from the referee’s perspective. Another special feature is the camera on the FC Bayern München team bus, documenting the excitement of the fans on the way to the stadium.
The so-called “Lighthouse Match” concept ensures even higher-quality production. This includes interviews upon the arrival of the team buses, insights into the dressing room area, the opening of the broadcast directly on the pitch, interviews immediately after the final whistle, as well as from the changing rooms after the match.
Tactical Feeds and Technological Innovations
The DFL’s media partners have access to the Global Product Portfolio (GPP), which includes the complete match broadcast with English commentary, interviews, and highlight clips. For the international live production in the World Feed, Kevin Hatchard and Patrick Owomoyela will provide commentary.
In addition, Sky and many international partners offer augmented reality content as well as the Tactical Feed. This feed continuously shows all 20 outfield players in the main image and displays relevant information and graphics depending on the situation. These include Bundesliga Match Facts, created in cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS), such as the teams’ real formations, tactical data, or individual player statistics.
During the match, In-Match Analysis Clips are produced, visualizing match data at decisive moments. These clips are automatically enhanced with suitable graphic elements and integrated into the live signal.

Worldwide Marketing Activations
The “Klassiker” is accompanied by a wide range of marketing activities worldwide. These include digital campaigns and live events organized in cooperation with both clubs, international fan clubs, and local media and content partners. On matchday, watch parties will take place in Brazil, Nigeria, and Vietnam, while in China, a football tournament will be held in twelve cities between fans of FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. Bundesliga and club legends such as Philipp Lahm, Karl-Heinz Riedle, Grafite, Lucio, and Ewerthon are involved in the global activities surrounding the “Klassiker.”
