21 June 2022 – Following last week’s announcement that the opening game will see 1. FC Kaiserslautern take on Hannover 96 (Friday, 15 July, 8:30 p.m. CEST), today the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga is publishing the exact schedule for the first two matchdays of the 2022-23 Bundesliga 2 season.

Like 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the other promoted sides will kick off the new campaign at home: 1. FC Magdeburg will welcome Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday, 16 July (8:30 p.m. CEST), while Eintracht Braunschweig will host Hamburger SV on Sunday, 17 July (1:30 p.m. CEST). One week later, Saturday, 23 July, sees the Franconian derby between 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth (1:00 p.m. CEST), with the match between Hannover 96 and FC St. Pauli taking place later the same day (8:30 p.m. CEST). Hamburger SV will play host to F.C. Hansa Rostock on Sunday, 24 July (1:30 p.m. CEST).

On the first matchday of the Bundesliga 2 season, only one match will take place on Friday, 15 July (with the usual pattern of two matches resuming from Matchday 2). Instead, five (rather than four) matches will be played on Saturday, 16 July. Starting from the current season, all matches on Saturday afternoon will again kick off at 1:00 p.m. CEST (instead of 1:30 p.m. CEST).

The next fixtures for Bundesliga (Matchdays 1-7) and Bundesliga 2 (Matchdays 3-9) are expected in the coming week (commencing 27 June).
